Help Save the Historic Davis Theatre

The beautiful Davis Theatre is in danger of closing and we need your help. Originally opened in 1934 by J.W. Davis, the theatre was the jewel of Lafayette County . With leather seats and stadium seating the Davis was one of a kind. After being closed in the 1980's the theatre was purchased by The Schwarzers and lovingly restored. In 1998 Fran and George added on 3 auditoriums making the Davis a 4-plex. Today the Davis Theatre is a first run theatre with small town charm and the best concession prices around.

Unfortunately, the rise of digital film production has put this treasure in danger of closing. If the Davis Theatre does not convert all 4 auditoriums to digital projection and sound, they will no longer have access to films and will be forced to close their doors.

In partnership with Main street Higginsville a non for profit organization, A group called Friends of the Davis Theatre and is accepting donations to help pay for this conversion. All donations are tax deductible and will go directly toward the digital conversion of the theatres 4 auditoriums.

If you would like to see this beautiful theatre preserved and here for future generations to enjoy you can send all donations to the address below. You will be sent a tax receipt for any donation you make. No donation is too small. We appreciate your support.
